Fixed-price Shopify work

John Singh · scope, price and turnaround written down before anything starts

Each piece of work below has a price, a written scope and the working days it takes. I take on selected work through freelance platforms, such as Upwork, and I’m not taking direct orders or bookings through this site. On the platform we use, the agreed listing or offer sets the actual scope, price and calendar deadline, and payment goes through that platform, under its terms. Fees the platform or a payment processor charges on top of my price are separate from it, and whether they can be refunded follows the platform’s terms. Any refund I owe is still my responsibility, even if the platform has already released the payment to me and can’t reverse it. The working days here describe the work itself, not the calendar deadline.

You can check the work first: a speed demo on two fictional static pages I built (not a Shopify store), where Google’s mobile lab score went from 68 to 96 on 22 September 2026, with both reports public; a demo store and a worked example.

Speed

Not sure yet? The free speed check runs Google’s mobile test on one page in about a minute and shows you how to read it.

A speed fix, one template

$550

Five working days. The causes slowing one template, usually the product page.

Fixed on a duplicate theme, measured before and after with the same tool. Typically that means images served at the size the screen needs, fonts that don’t hold the page up, app and third-party scripts that wait until the page is showing, and space kept for anything that arrives late, so nothing jumps under a shopper’s thumb.

You send
Collaborator access, and a list of the apps you can’t do without.
You get
A speed report on that template, then every cause it lists, fixed. Before and after PageSpeed reports, both public links you can check, and plain-English notes on what changed. See a sample report.
Not included
Removing apps you rely on (I’ll tell you what each one costs; you decide), changes inside an app’s own code, redesigns, checkout changes, and Shopify’s older “vintage” themes, which I quote instead.
Guarantee
Each cause the report listed for that template passes its written check in the after-report, or I refund the fix. Not a particular score: lab scores move from one run to the next, and apps can add weight after I’ve finished.

I’m not taking direct orders. I take on selected work through freelance platforms.

A speed fix, home, collection and product

$1,200

Seven working days. The three templates most shoppers pass through.

The same work as above, across your home page, your collection template and your product template. Many causes are shared between them, which is why three costs a good deal less than three times one.

You send, you get, not included, guarantee
As for one template, across all three.

Purchase tracking

Not sure yours is affected? You can check your own store in about fifteen minutes, from your Shopify admin and with one test order.

Purchase tracking, repaired

$300

Three working days. For stores below Plus that had tracking in Additional Scripts.

26 August 2026 was Shopify’s deadline for stores below Plus to upgrade their Thank you and Order status pages. The new pages don’t run Additional Scripts, so on an upgraded store anything that lived there (Google Analytics, the Meta pixel, an affiliate or conversion snippet) has stopped running. I move Google Analytics, Meta, TikTok and one affiliate or conversion snippet to where Shopify now expects them, and check them with a real order.

You send
Collaborator access; a copy or screenshot of what was in Additional Scripts, if you have one; and read-only access to each platform you use, or screenshots from its live view while we check.
You do
Sign in to whichever of your Google, Meta and TikTok accounts you use when Shopify’s apps ask, following the steps I send: they connect only with your own login. Then place one real order of an inexpensive product and refund it, so I never touch your payment settings.
You get
Google Analytics, Meta and TikTok purchases running through Shopify’s own apps or a custom pixel, one affiliate or conversion snippet moved to a custom pixel, duplicates removed so nothing counts twice, and a short note of what now lives where. Other platforms, such as Google Ads, Pinterest or Klaviyo, are quoted before I start.
Not included
Custom server-side setups (a server-side tag manager, Elevar, Stape and similar), new checkout extensions, checkout rules built with Shopify Functions (quoted separately), and anything inside your ad accounts.
Guarantee
With cookie consent accepted, your order appears exactly once in Google Analytics, Meta and TikTok (whichever you use), checked in each one’s live or test-events view, since Google Analytics’ standard reports take a day or two to catch up. If it doesn’t, you get a full refund.

I’m not taking direct orders. I take on selected work through freelance platforms.

Before Black Friday

Black Friday readiness pass

$199

Three working days.

A written pass or fail on the things that commonly go wrong on a Shopify store in Black Friday week, each checked on your live store, not guessed at. I change nothing in your theme or settings.

You send
Collaborator access; read-only access to Google Analytics, Meta and TikTok (whichever you use), or screenshots from each one’s live or test-events view while we check; the discounts you plan to run; and any links from last year’s sale that are still out there, if you have them.
You do
Place one real order of an inexpensive product and refund it, so I never touch your payment settings. The order shows in your reports and ad platforms, and your payment provider may keep its fee when you refund it.
I check
  • Your test purchase appears exactly once in Google Analytics, Meta and TikTok (whichever you use), with cookie consent accepted, seen in each one’s live or test-events view.
  • Your Thank you and Order status pages still show what you expect, such as upsells, surveys and reviews.
  • Your customer-account domain and pixel settings, which can quietly stop tracking.
  • Load speed on your home, collection and product pages, against Google’s “good” marks (the ones the free speed check explains): from your real shoppers where Google has that data, and from Google PageSpeed Insights where it doesn’t.
  • Apps your store’s public pages show loading through script tags, which Shopify stops running on 1 March 2027 (what that means), and code left behind by apps you’ve removed.
  • Your Black Friday discounts as set up in your admin: their dates, products, minimums and how they combine, checked against what you plan to run. Any that are already live, I also try in a real cart.
  • Last year’s sale and landing-page links, so none of them lands on a 404.
  • Adding a non-default variant to the cart and reaching checkout at phone size.
You get
Each item marked pass or fail, with how I checked it, and a fixed price for fixing anything that failed.
Not included
Any changes (those are the fixed-price fixes), load testing, and changes inside your ad accounts.
Guarantee
If I can’t complete the checks as described, you get a full refund.

Theme work

A front-end fix

$150

Two working days. One specific problem, on one template.

A section that breaks on a phone, a layout that jumps while the page loads, elements that overlap at one particular width. One reproducible issue in your theme that you can point at.

You send
The page address, what it does now, what it should do instead, and collaborator access.
You get
The fix built on a duplicate theme, a short note on what was actually causing it, and one round of adjustment after you look at it.
Not included
Speed work (that’s the speed fix), problems inside an app’s own code, redesigns, new features, or anything spanning more than one template.

I’m not taking direct orders. I take on selected work through freelance platforms.

A custom section

$350

Four working days. One Liquid section, built to your specification.

A section your theme does not have and no app does properly: a specification block, a staged process, a size guide. Built with theme-editor settings so your team changes the content afterwards without needing me again.

You send
A description, a sketch, or a link to something similar, your store address, and collaborator access.
You get
The section installed on a duplicate theme, editable from the theme editor, correct on a phone, and correct when a field is left empty. One round of adjustment once you see it with your own content.
Not included
Sections that filter or compare products, which I quote instead; checkout changes; app integrations; or anything that depends on a paid third-party service.

I’m not taking direct orders. I take on selected work through freelance platforms.

Product data

Not sure how your catalog stands? The free catalog check counts every product with no photo or no description, and lists which to fix first.

Product data, structured

$1,200

Ten working days. For stores that have outgrown the theme editor.

The metafield and metaobject structure from the worked example on my home page, done properly on your store, so your product pages hold as much detail as your products actually have and your team edits all of it from the admin.

You send
Collaborator access and a sample of the product content you want on the page.
You get
A metaobject structure your team can edit, reference fields grouped by section of the page, the sections that render them (including what happens when a product has nothing to show), and a short note on keeping it all filled. The field plan is agreed in writing before anything moves, with one round of adjustment after you see it working.
Covers
Up to three product templates and twenty-five products of content moved across. Anything beyond that gets its own fixed price before any of it starts.

I’m not taking direct orders. I take on selected work through freelance platforms.

Work you can check

What I guarantee

For work through a freelance platform, the agreed listing or offer states what applies, and a refund under the guarantees below is my responsibility, even if the platform has already released the payment to me.

What I don’t guarantee is a particular score, a ranking anywhere, or sales. Those depend on things outside my control, and I’d rather say so now.

How the work goes

  1. You hire me on the freelance platform we use, by a listing or an offer that states the scope, price and calendar deadline.
  2. I confirm it can be done as described. If it can’t, I tell you what I found, and you get a full refund.
  3. If the work needs access to your store, you approve my collaborator request. Theme work happens on a duplicate theme, so your live store doesn’t change until you publish it. Changes to your catalog or tracking settings, which your live store shares, are shown to you and applied only after you approve them.
  4. You see it working on your own products, ask for any adjustment, and accept the delivery. You publish when you’re ready.

Work through a freelance platform follows that platform’s terms. My terms, including cancellations and refunds, cover direct orders, which are closed.

Questions

How do you get into my store?

When the work needs access, I send a collaborator request. You approve it in your Shopify admin and choose what it covers, so I see only what the job needs. No password changes hands, it doesn’t use one of your staff accounts, and you can remove it whenever you like.

Will my live store change while you work?

Not from theme work: that happens on a duplicate of your theme, which you preview on your own products and publish when you’re ready. Tracking and product data live in your store’s settings and catalog, which your live store shares, so a change there does reach it. I show you exactly what will change, and apply it only after you approve it.

What if it can’t be done as described?

I tell you what I found, and you get a full refund. You don’t pay for a diagnosis.

Do you guarantee a PageSpeed score?

No. Lab scores move from one run to the next, and apps can add weight after I’ve finished. I guarantee that each cause the report lists passes its written check, with before and after reports you can check yourself. Where Google has data from your real shoppers, I show you that too.

My theme is old, or heavily customized.

Shopify’s older “vintage” themes, and themes carrying a lot of custom code, I quote rather than sell at these prices.

Do we need a call?

No. Messages on the platform we use are enough for everything on this page, and a written scope is clearer than a call.

Who does the work?

I do. No agency, no subcontractors. I’ve been building websites and Shopify stores for more than ten years, and I built and run my own Shopify store, so I’ve sat on the merchant’s side of the admin too.

How do I pay?

Through the freelance platform we use, which handles payment for work I take on there, under its terms. I’m not taking direct payments through this site.

Can it be ready before Black Friday?

There’s no rush option and no rush fee: the working days listed are what careful work takes. On the platform we use, the agreed listing or offer sets the calendar deadline.

What happens after you deliver?

You get plain-English notes on what changed, and you can ask for adjustments before you accept the delivery. For 14 days after delivery, anything my change broke is fixed free, and anything new gets its own fixed price.
